Toner Shortage Hits Xerox

>> Tuesday, December 8, 2009

One of the news posted yesterday caught my eyes. The headline of the article says “Xerox Hit by Toner Shortage”. The article went on to say that the renowned digital press manufacturer was hit by a worldwide toner delivery problem caused by an increased demand from customers. Xerox hastily said in a press release that this issue is only short-term and that the company is expected to recover from it quickly.

Just to give a brief description on the extent of this issue, a number of printers claimed that they have been made to wait up to 10 days for the delivery of the toners. This means that their printing machines might eventually run out of toners, forcing the business to turn away some jobs. The problem has hit companies in the United States, United Kingdom and Asia but it only affects a small number of Xerox models such as the Xerox 700.

Come to think of it, the holiday season is a peak season for printing businesses. For instance, there are numerous jobs or orders for corporate giveaways, dinner invitations and others. Xerox should have been able to foresee this since they have been in the business for a long time.

On the other hand, I think it’s time for companies to consider other options when it comes to printer supplies. If Xerox had run out of toners for their printing machines, maybe they can consider using compatible or remanufactured toners instead just to keep their business going and to take advantage of the holiday rush.

Color Toner Expert offers you a wide range of compatible or replacement toners for Xerox machines. We also offer OEM Xerox toner cartridges at lower prices.

Contrary to some of the popular “hearsays”, using compatible or remanufactured toners will not damage your machine. Third party cartridge manufacturers and remanufacturing companies ensure that their products match (or sometimes even exceed) those of new or branded cartridges. Tests have also shown that compatible and remanufactured toners can last just as long and can print just as much as new or branded toners do. Best of all, compatible or remanufactured toners are cheaper so they would allow printer businesses to earn even more profits.

So to all printers out there, why wait for more than a week for the branded toners to be delivered when you can find cheaper alternatives that works just as well as branded toners?
